Since 2012, the HCF Research Foundation and the RACGP Foundation have provided grants for the purpose of funding research into health services issues of relevance to general practice.
The HCF Research Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable trust established to encourage health service research for the benefit of all Australians. The HCF Research Foundation aims to increase the evidence base in the delivery of health care services and support the translation of research into practice.
This grant has a health services research focus. The main goals of health services research are identifying the most effective ways to organise, manage, finance, and deliver high quality care; reducing medical errors; and improving patient safety. Research should lead to improved healthcare outcomes, including the quality, efficiency, equity of, and access to, health services.
One grant of $120,000 (excluding GST) is available for a period of up to two years to fund research into health services issues of relevance to general practice.
Projects could research the impact of different models of care, access to care, effectiveness of care, quality of care, efficiency of care, or cost of care.
The successful applicant will present an innovative research project that will have the potential to improve the delivery of health services and make a significant impact on health outcomes. The project will have broad translation and implementation potential.
This grant is made available by the HCF Research Foundation, with matched funds provided by the RACGP Foundation.
To be eligible for the RACGP Foundation / HCF Research Foundation Research Grant, the principal investigator must be a general practitioner or general practice registrar. We encourage applicants to consider including early career researchers, within a more experienced team, to continue to build general practice research capacity.
